We did an amazing 6+ mile hike on on 1/22/22 at the Franklin Parker Preserve
We followed the WISE method
It is going to be cold, so remember to be W.I.S.E. when choosing your layers!
W – your first layer should WICK away moisture. Any shirt that is not cotton (like a soccer uniform shirt) can work well.
I – your next layer should INSULATE. A fleece or anything warm is good … avoid cotton!
S – your outer SHELL should protect from precipitation and wind. A rain jacket or poncho will do the trick.
E – be sure to pack EXTRA layers. This is for when we cool off during a break or if your clothes get wet. And if you only have cotton layers, it’s ok…you can swap them out with your extras as needed.
We also like the WISER method, which is repeating the above.
We had seven scouts and six leaders attend this event.
Thomas gave new meaning to the phrase "car wash"
Everyone figured out that we were in an old Cranberry Bog!
